Recently, the 2024 Horizon Robotics Conference, themed "Uniting Intelligence for Autonomous Driving, Accelerating Toward Higher Goals," was held in Ningbo. As a strategic partner of Horizon Robotics, Sunny OIT had the honor of attending this prestigious event.
At the Embodied Intelligence Sub-Forum, David Wang, General Manager of Sunny OIT, delivered a keynote titled "Multimodal Perception: Unlocking the New Era of Omni-Sensory Interaction for Embodied Intelligence." He explored future trends in embodied intelligence and showcased multimodal perception visual solutions, highlighting Sunny OIT’s technical expertise in robotic vision and earning widespread acclaim from attendees.
David began by defining embodied intelligence, emphasizing that intelligence not only stems from algorithms and computing but also lies in sensory interaction. He argued that multimodal fusion is critical for embodied systems to adapt to complex physical environments.
Using humanoid robots as an example, he explained that the brain handles perception, understanding, and planning, the cerebellum manages motor control and action generation, and limbs execute movements. Integrating sensory data—vision, hearing, touch—is vital throughout this process.
Vision, as the dominant sense, accounts for over 80% of perceptual data. David detailed its imaging and transmission applications, alongside innovative uses of the Horizon AI platform in image processing. With deep learning, robots can identify image features, enabling object recognition and semantic understanding for smarter decision-making.
Sunny Group, with 40 years of expertise in optics and a strategic focus on being a "key supporting player," has partnered with industry leaders to achieve success in mobile and automotive optics. As its subsidiary, Sunny OIT has emerged as a leader in robotic vision, metaverse, and AIoT, building integrated capabilities in optics, mechanics, electronics, and algorithms.
In mobile robotics, Sunny OIT’s visual solutions power leading global brands of robot vacuums and commercial robots. It also provides customized, one-stop visual solutions and OEM services for emerging fields like robotic lawn mowers—testaments to its technical strength and ecosystem recognition.
To advance embodied intelligence, Sunny OIT is integrating "hand-eye-brain" system solutions with industry partners. David expressed hope to collaborate with Horizon Robotics and other stakeholders, exploring diverse applications, reducing R&D cycles and costs, and accelerating the era of omni-sensory interaction for embodied intelligence.
