Recently, Panasonic launched two new smart refrigerator models equipped with AI dual cameras: NR-F53CV1 (525L) and NR-E46CV1 (457L). These models can recognize ingredients, recommend recipes, and monitor internal storage conditions in real time. Priced at 366,000 yen and 336,000 yen respectively, they are scheduled to go on sale in late May.
AI Dual Cameras: Enabling Comprehensive Monitoring of Internal Compartments
The smart refrigerator integrates a single top-mounted camera unit containing two lenses: a wide-angle camera and a narrow-angle telephoto camera. This design allows for full-range monitoring of the refrigerator's interior, including the status of items in the refrigerating compartment, door shelves, vegetable compartment, and freezer layers.
The wide-angle camera captures a 130° broad view of the overall layout of the refrigerating compartment, while the narrow-angle telephoto camera precisely captures high-resolution images of the vegetable compartment and freezer below.
Through Panasonic's official "Live Pantry" app, users can check the refrigerator's interior at any time even when away from home, effectively preventing missed purchases or duplicate buying. By accessing the "Ingredient Management" section, users can view 6 images captured by the dual cameras and uploaded to their mobile devices during the last door opening—including 1 latest photo and the 5 most recent historical images—facilitating timely tracking of ingredient changes.
AI Recognition: World's First AI-Powered Vegetable Inventory Management
The smart refrigerator features AI-powered vegetable recognition. Via the narrow-angle telephoto camera, it can automatically identify up to 45 types of vegetables stored in the vegetable compartment and calculate their estimated shelf life based on the storage timestamp. When newly purchased vegetables are added, the system updates the information instantly. Additionally, the number and variety of automatically recognizable ingredients will be expanded through firmware upgrades.
AI Ingredient Management and Recipe Recommendations
The refrigerator's AI camera automatically updates ingredient information whenever there are changes in the type or quantity of vegetables, though ingredient weights require manual updates. Ingredients other than vegetables can also be manually registered and managed. Based on the latest shelf life of ingredients, the intelligent system prioritizes recommending vegetables nearing expiration for immediate consumption, along with suitable recipes. Users can also search for recipes independently, ensuring ingredients are fully utilized while fresh, optimizing management efficiency, and enabling a healthy, smart lifestyle.
