On July 25th, the new AR brand ARknovv officially launched two AR glasses products: ARknovv A1, the first "consumer-grade AR glasses wearable outdoors", and ARknovv A1 HUD, which is additionally equipped with a vehicle-specific spatial positioning module and a simultaneous charging & using module, and features an open HUD driving navigation function. These products are leading the AR consumer market into a new era of integration with artificial intelligence.

The optical display system, interaction system, operating system, and appearance of ARknovv A1 have brought surprises to the industry. It not only achieves 6 degrees of freedom (6DoF) spatial positioning with a single camera but also weighs only 68 grams, reaching the extreme for AR glasses equipped with a camera.


Black Technologies Behind ARknovv A1

So, what black technologies does this "consumer-grade AR glasses wearable outdoors" possess?

 

▶ Vision: 6DoF Achieved with a Single Camera

Most brands use at least two cameras to achieve 6 degrees of freedom (6DoF) spatial positioning, but ARknovv A1 only adopts one color camera, which, combined with a 9-axis sensor, realizes 3 degrees of freedom (3DoF) and 6 degrees of freedom (6DoF) spatial positioning effects in different scenarios.


▶ Interaction: Ring + Voice

In terms of interaction, ARknovv A1 adopts the "ring + voice" method. The ring peripheral called "Magic Ring" supports multiple interaction methods such as natural voice, plane interaction, and ray interaction. Users can interact with ARknovv A1 through natural language by long-pressing the Home button on the ring, and control the AR glasses using the touchpad on the Magic Ring just like using a laptop touchpad. In addition, it can realize functions such as one-click conversion of photos to 3D and one-click See Through.

 

▶ Optics: Retina-Level Display

Weighing only 68 grams, ARknovv A1 adopts a new optical display system with high definition, high brightness, and high light transmittance. The optical module, composed of a Micro OLED screen and an advanced free-form surface light guide prism, has a light transmittance of up to 60%, achieving an optical display system with 1000 nits of eye brightness and a binocular 3840×1080 ultra-clear display resolution, thus realizing a "retina-level display". It features a see-through FOV of 55° (-30°~25°) and a PPD (angular resolution) of 58, offering a screen experience like an 80-inch 3D giant screen.

Moreover, the lenses of ARknovv A1 adopt electrochromic technology, switching to lenses in indoor environments and automatically turning into sunglasses in high-intensity outdoor light environments, allowing users to clearly see the images in the glasses under different light conditions.

 

▶ System: Locally Deployed GPT Capability

ARknovv A1 takes the lead in equipping Aladdin OS, independently developed by ARknovv with in-depth integration of AI technology, and provides users with an exclusive intelligent assistant — Elf Ball. Derived from the GPT model in the self-developed system of "Tribute to the Unknown", Elf Ball can not only understand what users say, recognize their voice commands, and perceive the objects they see but also help users find information and provide the best suggestions. Its specific application scenarios are defined as the "AR Three Essentials".

 

▶ Applications: AR Three Essentials

AR Album: Users can take photos, view 3D photos, and watch 3D movies through the AR Album function. With the help of AI algorithms, AR Album can review 2D photos in 3D, quickly transform the flat landscapes seen from the user's first-person perspective into 3D landscapes with different effects, and realize one-click stylization of photos.

AR Navigation: AR Navigation integrates monocular spatial computing and positioning system capabilities. With the support of the vehicle-specific spatial positioning module and the simultaneous charging & using module, ARknovv A1 can also provide users with AR-HUD driving navigation, bringing a 3D vehicle-road integration navigation experience. ARknovv A1 HUD can display navigation information as well as prompts such as mobile phone calls and text messages, which are fixed 8 meters ahead of the user, slightly below the line of sight, via monocular spatial computing and positioning system (SLAM). This not only does not affect the observation of rearview mirrors or block the driving view but also effectively avoids eye fatigue caused by switching the line of sight focus.

Reality "Big Bang": Reality "Big Bang" is the function of ARknovv A1 that best reflects the essential attributes of AR. With this function, users can obtain more information when seeing real objects. For example, when users look at a restaurant, they can see restaurant reviews and signature dishes in their field of vision; when traveling and looking at scenic spots, they can see introductions and historical allusions of the scenic spots, which greatly improves the efficiency and quality of information acquisition.

It is worth mentioning that all mobile phones supporting DP output can be connected to ARknovv A1 for plug-and-play functionality. In addition, it can be connected to Windows computers, Mac computers, iPad Pro, and various game consoles with USB-C interfaces, or to HDMI interfaces via third-party "adapters", bringing richer audio-visual, entertainment, and office experiences to meet diverse usage needs.

In terms of pricing, ARknovv A1 is priced at 2,988 yuan; ARknovv A1 HUD is priced at 3,988 yuan. Pre-orders will start on September 26th. Users with vision correction needs can customize suitable corrective lenses when ordering ARknovv A1. It is reported that the first 1,000 pre-order users can also enjoy a 1,000 yuan discount or an equivalent exchange for the next-generation product.
