On December 20th, DPVR officially launched its new 6DoF gaming-grade PC VR headset—the DPVR E4—with the standard edition priced at ¥3,499 RMB and the enterprise edition at ¥4,699 RMB.
"It took the VR industry seven years to complete a full cycle—from boom to bust and back to boom," said Chen Chaoyang, CEO of DPVR. Since introducing China’s first all-in-one VR headset, the M2, in 2016 and the country’s first 6DoF laser-tracked PC VR headset, the E3, in 2017, DPVR has consistently dominated the VR arcade headset market for six consecutive years.

The DPVR E4 immediately captivates with its 16.8-million-color RGB lighting, pearl-white body, holographic exterior panel, and customizable breathing effects—truly a standout in the VR landscape.
Beyond aesthetics, the E4 packs cutting-edge specs. "Gamer feedback drives DPVR’s product development," Chen emphasized at the launch. Addressing common pain points like unstable streaming, heavy headsets, limited content, and high costs, the E4 delivers seven game-changing "delights":
▶ Large-Scale 6DoF Visual Tracking
For gamers, "feel" is paramount. The E4 leverages inside-out 6DoF tracking technology, enhanced by four HD cameras for full spatial coverage without external base stations. Its industrial-grade IMU sensors, anti-electromagnetic interference design, and proprietary Hawkeye VSLAM 4Cam system enable millimeter-level precision in a 10m×10m space. The 6DoF controllers offer 240° wide-angle tracking, 0.1s response time, millimeter-level dynamic error, sub-millimeter static/drift error, and ±1° angle deviation.
▶ Ultra-Wide Optical Design
With a 116° field of view (FOV) and lenses under 50mm effective diameter, the E4 minimizes distortion through advanced optical calibration. Tests confirm TV distortion below 4% at 0.7 FOV, ensuring long-wear comfort. The 14mm Eyebox sweet spot extends clarity to peripheral vision, delivering unprecedented immersion.

DPVR partnered with Steam to optimize hardware for premium SteamVR experiences. After a year of joint tuning, the E4 seamlessly runs 7,000+ titles like Green Hell and After The Fall, with new games added annually. Chen also revealed ongoing collaborations for blockbusters like Half-Life.
The E4DPVR Assistant, built on SteamVR API, automates game downloads and installations for plug-and-play convenience. DPVR is also teaming up with studios to bring major IPs like Chinese Paladin to VR.
Notably, the E4 supports both NVIDIA and AMD GPUs. After extensive testing with industry leaders, DPVR ensured full compatibility across graphics cards. Connectivity options include DP 1.4, MiniDP, Thunderbolt™, and HDMI.
