On May 22nd, Frank Xu from Sunny OIT delivered an insightful lecture titled "Bridging the Virtual and Real: Decoding the Next Generation Computing Platform" at Zhejiang University. He was invited by the university's "Qiushi Tide" Network Culture Festival.
During the lecture, Frank shared his personal growth journey and experiences since graduating. Through an in-depth analysis of AR/VR technology, he encouraged students to broaden their horizons, stay informed about industry trends and emerging applications, and enhance their practical skills alongside theoretical knowledge. He warmly invited students interested in the AR/VR field to seize the momentum, join the industry, and collectively shape its exciting future.
Frank commenced by recounting his professional evolution over the 15 years since graduation. He humorously described his diverse work experiences, his cross-disciplinary growth, and how he ultimately found his ideal career path. Regarding career planning, he emphasized that to gain initiative in one's future career, individuals need not only a solid knowledge base but also strong adaptability, collaboration skills, creativity, and communication abilities. His witty narrative, interwoven with authentic experiences—including his 2010 field research trip to Israel—elicited constant laughter and rapturous applause. His visits to companies like Magic Leap, Lumus, and PrimeSense further ignited the students' strong interest in AR/VR.
Next, Frank outlined the development history of AR/VR. He noted that since approximately 83% of human information intake comes through vision, and many people are open to wearing glasses, AR/VR smart glasses represent a potential next frontier in wearables. He predicted this market could reach a scale measured in billions. With tech giants like Google, HTC, Microsoft, and Apple entering the arena, AR/VR development is now fiercely competitive. Frank pointed out that breaking through this competition requires combining hardware practicality, content entertainment value, and widespread consumer acceptance to deliver an optimal user experience.
Frank then provided a technical deep dive, offering detailed explanations of AR/VR concepts, industry chain structures, and technical classifications. He specifically elaborated on key technology modules such as "Display Technology," "Calibration Technology," and "Interaction Technology," sharing insights on industry analysis, maturity levels, and technological trends, once again elevating the lecture's intensity. He also mentioned Sunny Group's technological expertise and reserves in areas like "Platforms," "Spatial Positioning," "Interaction," "Calibration," and "Detection." Sunny OIT, a subsidiary of Sunny Group, provides globally leading optical imaging products and professional industry solutions, aiming to become a premier robotic vision solution provider. The company, having dedicated years to 3D depth vision sensing, focuses on "Recognition & Positioning" depth vision products for markets including AR/VR, smart home, mobile payment, and robotic vacuum cleaners.
Concluding his talk, Frank emphasized that Sunny Group actively integrates university talent recruitment into its corporate development strategy. He strongly encouraged and welcomed outstanding graduates to join the company. Sunny Group is committed to providing graduates with a vast platform to leverage their strengths and talents, fostering their career growth.
