On April 9th, an innovation summit themed "Facial Recognition · Financial Payment" was held in Shanghai. Enterprises and professionals across the industry's upstream and downstream value chain gathered to conduct an in-depth analysis of the future value-added services and new market opportunities for facial recognition technology.
During the conference, guest speakers from organizations including YITU, ams OSRAM, De Lu, Yu Guang, CloudWalk, LongWay Tech, China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), and the National FinTech Evaluation Center delivered presentations. They shared insights and engaged in discussions with the professional audience on the current status and future prospects of financial payment within the new development paradigm.
Invited by the organizers CIOE and MEMS Consulting, Luke, Marketing Director of Sunny OIT, delivered a keynote speech titled "Beyond Optics: Sunny OIT's Exploration Journey in ToF Applications". He highlighted that Sunny OIT, as one of China's earliest entrants into the 3D vision sector, comprehensively covers all three major 3D technologies (structured light, binocular vision, and ToF). Notably, its ToF vision solutions had already achieved cumulative shipments in the millions (kk level) for mobile phone projects as early as 2016. Since 2016, Sunny OIT has strategically expanded ToF applications into non-mobile markets. Its products have been successfully deployed in areas such as logistics volume measurement, unmanned supermarkets, and robotic vacuum cleaners, effectively extending ToF technology from smartphones into broader application spaces.
With the rising prominence of financial payments, and to maximize payment security for customers while addressing increasingly challenging demands for facial information privacy protection, several of Sunny OIT's 3D vision module products (ToF & structured light solutions) have obtained Enhanced-Level certification from the "National FinTech Evaluation Center" (BCTC). Luke revealed that Sunny OIT's financial payment solutions are expected to achieve large-scale deployments in scenarios like medical insurance systems and UnionPay POS terminals in 2021.
During the afternoon roundtable session, Luke pointed out that structured light and ToF technologies are not mutually substitutive but will advance together over a significant period, jointly addressing the needs of different segmented scenarios. He expressed confidence that ToF will be the more readily commercializable technology and "will never be absent," anticipating promising prospects for 3D cameras in the facial recognition payment market.
